The Brazilian "Economic Value" reported on February 18 that, according to data released by the Brazilian Forestry Association (Ibá) on Thursday, the output of Brazilian pulp in 2020 was 21 million tons, an increase of 6.8% year-on-year, close to the highest output in history. The total export volume for the whole year was 15.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. In the fourth quarter of last year, Brazil’s pulp production reached 5.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%, and exports were 4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%. In 2020, Brazil's exports of wood-based products are about 8 billion U.S. dollars, of which fiber is 6 billion U.S. dollars, paper is 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, and wood board is 276 million U.S. dollars. According to the agency's data, China is still the most important destination for Brazil's pulp exports. Due to the decline in raw material prices, exports to China in 2020 amounted to US$2.9 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%. Latin America is Brazil's largest export market for wood and paper. The export value of wood panels to Latin America is 142 million U.S. dollars, and the export value of paper is 976 million U.S. dollars. Affected by the epidemic, in 2020, domestic printing paper sales in Brazil will be 1.1 million tons, a drop of nearly 20%. Paper towel sales were 1.3 million tons, an increase of 1.6%. The annual sales of packaging paper was 1.8 million tons, an increase of 0.3%. The sales volume of wood boards was 7.1 million cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%.
